Antique Magic Chef Stove

This porcelain enameled Magic Chef Model 1540-A stove was made by the American Stove Company. The stove features four (4) stovetop gas burners, a gas oven with a gas broiler, and a warming/dry storage cabinet with 2 shelves. The color of the enamel is cream with light blue Delft-tile patterns embossed into the metal itself.

The overall dimensions of the Stove are approximately 36 inches high by 40 inches wide by 20.5 inches deep for the body. (The legs are included in the height). With the rear vent on the depth is about 25 inches. The Stovetop area measures 18 x 17 inches, supporting the four 8 inch burners. The oven measures 15.5 inches wide x 13 inches tall x 18 inches deep, and inside this light hinged oven are two racks. Inside the warmer/storage area is 1 metal shelf. The temperature adjusting knob for the oven is on the outside of the stove.

The stove is used, and there are some knicks along the front near the edge and one burner knob is missing. Overall the finish is in terrific condition though. There is surface rust but for the most part nothing worse than that - the worst is at the bottom right front corner. Also, the burners show some rust, but they are cast iron so they should clean right up.

Saw this for sale and would love to build a retro kitchen around it, if I thought it was something that could be used on a regular basis.
